Iowa Insurance Hall of Fame Announces 2026 Inductees
WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — The Iowa Insurance Hall of Fame (IIHOF) has announced its 2026 inductees, recognizing four outstanding individuals whose careers have significantly shaped the insurance industry in Iowa and beyond. Inductees must have an Iowa connection, demonstrate high ethical standards, and serve as role models for others in the profession. This year’s honorees are: Ronald Boyd, David Creighton Sr., Terry Friedman, and Arthur Schneider.
Ronald Boyd
Ronald Boyd graduated from Drake University in 1974 and built a distinguished career in the property and casualty insurance industry. After leadership roles with Continental Western and Norwest Bank, Boyd joined Midwest Family Mutual in 1991. Under his leadership, the company expanded from a two-state insurer into a multi-state operation and grew premium volume from approximately $9 million to more than $230 million. Boyd also led the company’s redomestication to Iowa in 2012, strengthening its presence in the state and contributing to Iowa’s insurance marketplace. Known for his commitment to innovation, professional development, and ethical leadership, Boyd has mentored generations of insurance professionals while helping build a culture centered on education, service, and community involvement.
David Creighton Sr. (Posthumous)
David Creighton Sr. entered the insurance industry in 1971 and spent nearly five decades serving clients, agencies, and the broader profession. In 1988, he consolidated multiple agencies to form The Bryton Companies, creating an organization that strengthened independent agencies while preserving their local community roots. Creighton earned both the CPCU and CIC designations and was recognized as a PIA Agent of the Year. Beyond the insurance industry, he served 18 years on the IPERS Investment Board and played a key role in bringing professional golf events to central Iowa. Known for his commitment to service, mentorship, and professional excellence, Creighton left a lasting legacy on both the insurance industry and the communities he served.
Terry Friedman
Terry Friedman spent more than 40 years helping build Friedman Insurance Group into one of eastern Iowa’s most respected independent agencies and served as President and CEO from 2004 through 2020. A dedicated advocate for the insurance profession, Friedman held leadership roles with the Independent Insurance Agents of Iowa, the Mid-American Insurance Conference, and the Iowa Workers Compensation Appeal Board. Throughout his career, he earned a reputation for technical expertise, integrity, and a willingness to mentor others. In addition to his insurance leadership, Friedman has devoted significant time to civic and charitable organizations throughout the Dubuque area, exemplifying the professional and community leadership recognized by the Iowa Insurance Hall of Fame.
Arthur Schneider (Posthumous)
Arthur Schneider was a nationally recognized insurance tax expert whose career influenced both the insurance industry and public policy. After becoming a partner at KPMG, he joined Transamerica in Cedar Rapids in 2000 as Senior Vice President and Chief Tax Officer. Schneider became widely respected for his expertise, integrity, and ability to navigate complex insurance tax and regulatory issues. Through his leadership with Transamerica and the American Council of Life Insurers, he helped shape discussions affecting insurers nationwide. Equally important was his commitment to mentoring others and fostering a culture of learning and professional excellence. His impact on Iowa’s insurance community and the broader industry continues to be felt today.
