Ted Lussem
The Burkhalter Award is presented at I-Day to a person who has made significant contributions to the community and the Iowa insurance industry. The Burkhalter Award is designed to recognize individuals who have influenced the Iowa property and casualty insurance industry and their community through civic involvement. The 2011 recipient is Theodore “Ted’ Lussem, CPCU, AIM, AU, AAI, AIC, ALCM, APA, ARM, ARP, AIAF, AMIM, AAM, ARe, AIS, API, AFSB, ASLI, CPIM.
Ted is known as Mr. CPCU in Iowa and beyond. He was president of the Iowa chapter in 1979-1980. Over the years he has organized and facilitated numerous programs from the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters and is responsible for many insurance professionals’ career success. Jonathan Dahlman
Jonathan is a junior at The University of Iowa majoring in Accounting and Finance. Jonathan is pursuing the Risk Management and Insurance Certificate through the Vaughn Institute for Risk Management. He is involved in Alpha Kappa Psi, a professional business fraternity, and will be Vice President in the fall. Jonathan is also a Business Student Ambassador and the founder of the Hawkeye Weightlifting Club. During the school year he works as a business assistant at a research facility at the University Hospital. Last summer Jonathan interned at the Life and Annuity Insurance Company, Aviva USA, as a financial controls intern. This summer he will be at Principal Financial Group as a mutual fund accounting intern.

Angela Dostal
Angie is currently a junior at Drake University, majoring in Accounting. She is a proud wife and mother. She considers herself very fortunate to have the opportunity to pursue her own education and career goals. Angie is a proud member of the Mortar Board National Senior Honor Society and participates in the I.R.I.S (Iowa Radio Reading Information Service) program on campus. She is a very active part of her community, serving as the Van Meter Soccer Board Registrar and member of the Van Meter Education Foundation. In her free time, Angie enjoys spending time with her family and watching her children participate in their various athletic activities.
